CODE / CITY is an app-augmented video installation by Manu Luksch about the nexus of Big Data, Smart Cities and the cognitive Internet of Things concepts that drive urban development. Shot in the United Arab Emirates, which is investing heavily in smart technologies, the installation presents the cognitive city as a narrative partner in our collective life with its own beliefs, judgements and preferences. hybrid landscapes is an exhibition of recent work by elev pioneering artists whose projects use, respond to and subvert digital technologies in surprising and unexpected ways. As lived experience plays out simultaneously across natural, built and networked worlds, new perceptions and perspectives are created. 06.Apr.16 PARIS: FUTURS NON-CONFORMES #1 MYTHOLOGIES
Commissioned for FUTURS NON-CONFORMES, SMART CITY ABC aims to decode a territory that has produced a specialist vocabulary, in order to promote acessibility to the debate. The vision of the ‘Smart City’ was introduced by some of the largest tech corporations to address population growth, political instability and resource scarcity. This glossary-in-progress aims to illuminate terminology and decipher buzzwords. In order to participate in the shaping of our public spaces, we must engage with this evolving laguage. The “gold standard” of skillful execution was set by an institution whose approach was almost baroque - they delivered hard copies of each of the several hundred relevant frames from the timelapse camera, with third parties’ heads cut out, apparently with nail scissors.

Two documents had (accidentally?) slipped in between the printouts—one a letter from a junior employee tendering her resignation (was it connected with the beheading job?), and the other an ironic memo: And the good news —I enclose the £10 fee to be passed to the branch sundry income account. (Head of Security, internal communication 09/2003)

No Man's Land is a web project for Womanifesto 2006 The project, No Man's Land invites 65 participants from diverse locations and backgrounds to utilize cyber space as the primary platform to present works addressing the territorially imagined line of the border, its powers of inclusion and exclusion, and its ability to simultaneously promote both unity and conflict. Borders also define our sense of nationalism, giving rise to a sense of belonging or not-belonging and informing historical and current cultural practices that influence our sense of nation-hood and ownership. The project will develop gradually as the invited participants upload their work.

the *databodies* project runs the whole day and eve and night on October 26th. it is parallell to the festival *transito*, a collaboration of all Leidse Plein Theatres (Melkweg, Balie, Parsadiso, Belleveue and the City Theatre).
