The First Fifteen Years

Ambient Information Systems came into being in 1999 as an art & tech hub for interdisciplinary collaboration. The studio and online resource, ambientTV.NET,  emerged out of founding artist-activist Manu Luksch’s interest in new hybrid artforms across film, the net and public space. Under her co-directorship with Mukul Patel, it developed into a crucible for wider critical and socially-engaged practice that takes numerous forms – the devising of tools, the creation of frameworks, the instigation of processes. The publication Ambient Information Systems (2006) brings together project documentation and artistic research of the first 15 years.
